Radio Gaga!

Today Nick and I went to buy all of our ham radio equipment! A few weeks ago we,passed the test to get our tech lisence. I got interested in ham radio when I realized it was used a lot during emergencies...considering we live in earthquake country it couldn't hurt to learn how to use them. We went to a shop in Burbank and spent a good 2 1/2 hours there. We got everything we need to get started including antennae, cables, desk top radio with power supply, hand held radios and a few other things. We are still waiting for our names to get into the database. Until that happens we can't transmit. Tomight we are watching Sy Fy's version of The Philidelphia Experiment. I heard of the previous movie, but didn't know anything about it. It's and interesting concept and my husband is a fan of Nichola Tesla.

Winding Down the Summer

Well I go back to work on Momday. Yesterday I spent several hours rearranging stuff and unpacking. My honey put up my bulletin boards even with being sick with bronchitis...poor honey. I've got a polka dot theme going...maybe I should call it polka dot Afro! Tonight I started downloading all the ieps so I can give them to the teachers on Monday. Sometime this weekend I have to make my vegan blueberry muffins for the staff breakfast. Today I got stuff for lunches...that's when it really hit that school is starting next week. Not that I mind. I wish we still had 3 months on, 1 month off...two months off makes me far more lazy than I should be and I'm ready to go back by about the 6th week!

Wonderful Day!

I got to go with my mom to a local mall today. Before we went to the mall we stopped at my college which is on the way so I could pick up my masters diploma. I officially have a masters degree in science for teaching! At the mall we hit the usual stores: Sanrio, Bare Minerals, Lane Bryant, Nordstroms, and Torrid. I had to stop after almost every store because of the pain in my knee. However, I surprised myself, I was able to get on the down elevator without a big issue. It hurt getting on, but I didn't feel like I was going to fall over or anything. I got a new casual/work black skirt. I'm having to wear skirts and dresses or very loose pant while I'm wearing my brace. When work starts again next week that won't be too difficult as most of my work clothes are skirts and dresses, but right now it's a pain if I go anywhere. I've been wearing the same jean skirt over and over. I have another jean skirt, but I need to wear leggings with it and that with th

Book Review Monday

On Mondays I'm going to try and review the books I've read during the week. I've been in the habit of reading at least one chapter each night before I go to bed for the past 10 years. Usually this results in reading a lot more chapters! This past week I read Sweet Valley Confidential: Ten Years Later by Francine Pascal, The Sweet Life Serial Novel Parts 1-3 by Francine Pascal, and Past Forward Serial Novel Part 1 by: Chautona Havig. Sweet Valley Confidential picks up with Elizabeth and Jessica, the Wakefield Twins, ten years after graduation. Jessica is living in Sweet Valley and Elizabeth has fled to New York to work as a writer for an off Broadway guide. Elizabeth has left because Jessica betrayed her in a way that Elizabeth doesn't think is forgivable. The book starts 8 months after her move. I can't really add much more information without giving away the plot, but several of the characters from the old series are in the story including Todd Wilkins, B
